I have been elected as President of AMBIS

AMBISFor those who remembered, I blogged about the Association of Medical and bioInformatics (AMBIS) back in Aug 2013 where I shared that I was elected as the Vice-President of the society. Well, the society held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday and I have been elected as the new President of AMBIS.

For the unaware, AMBIS is a national member of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), a member of the Asia-Pacific Association for Medical Informatics (APAMI) and a regional affiliate of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) and our mission is;

The Association for Medical and Bio-Informatics, Singapore (AMBIS) is an organization that promotes excellence in Medical and Bio-Informatics and advances the development of this emerging discipline in Singapore. AMBIS is actively involved in promoting collaborations and exchanges among the medical and bio-informatics community through conferences, meetings, seminars, workshops and symposia.

AMBIS is a national member of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), a member of the Asia-Pacific Association for Medical Informatics (APAMI) and a regional affiliate of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB).

So what does this entails? Well, for starters, I am going to figure out how HL7 Singapore (where I am serving as Chair) can work together with AMBIS to help raise the bar for both Health/Medical Informaticians as well as Bio-Informatics Scientists.

Stay tune for more updates. In the meantime, I have attached a photo of the new Executive Committee of AMBIS.
