2012 IHE Connectathon registration jumps 20%

According to HealthImaging.com, more than 100 entities have registered to test more than 180 systems at the latest North American IHE Connectathon, this represent an increase of more than 20% over the previous year! (I want to go to a Connectathon!)

More than 100 health IT companies and research organizations have registered to test more than 180 health IT systems for interoperability and compliance at the annual IHE North American Connectathon.
This represents an increase of more than 20 percent over the 2011 event, according to the Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

IHE Connectathons are monitored testing events where a technical project management team develops test plans for each role being tested at the Connectathon and organizes the process to maximize interoperability testing between corresponding systems from different vendors. Independent monitors observe and record test results, which are published in the Connectathon results database.

This year’s Connectathon will test health IT systems from across the spectrum of care, including:

  • Anatomic pathology;
  • Cardiology;
  • IT infrastructure;
  • Laboratory;
  • Patient care coordination;
  • Patient care devices;
  • Quality, research and public health; and
  • Radiology.

The Connectathon will take place Jan. 9 to 13, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, including a one-day conference Jan. 11, 2012, with experts in health information exchange and EHRs.
