Dell to buy SecureWorks

Updates from HealthImaging.com on DELL’s foray into Health IT.

Dell’s buying spree continues as the company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire SecureWorks, an Atlanta-based provider of information security services.

The acquisition expands Dell’s global IT-as-a-Service offerings and information security expertise. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Organizations of all sizes and across diverse industries—including healthcare—use SecureWorks services to reduce risk, improve regulatory compliance and lower costs of managing IT security, the Round Rock, Texas-based Dell said.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in early 2011. Dell plans to maintain SecureWorks’ current operations and continue to make investments in enhanced security offerings.

In an ongoing venture into healthcare, Dell also announced plans to acquire cloud-based medical archiving company InSite One at the end of last year.
